  • (English) The Pandrol VIPA SP system offers a low stiffness assembly for high levels of vibration isolation together with a high level of vertical and lateral adjustment. The lateral adjustment is provided in the lower baseplate which has slotted holes for lateral adjustment. The non-resilient friction grip interface between the lower baseplate and the slab provides the opportunity for a high level of vertical adjustment under the baseplate.

  • (English) Adjustment

    (English) The high level of adjustment makes the VIPA SP system an ideal product for use on bridges and for bottom-up construction where such levels of adjustment are extremely beneficial. It is also equally suitable for top-down construction and installation references a great deal of experience with both types of construction method.

  • (English) Electrical Insulation

    (English) As with all Pandrol VIPA systems, VIPA SP exhibits a high level of electrical insulation through 2 levels of insulation, the rail being insulated from the baseplate and the baseplate being insulated from the concrete slab.

  • (English) Fastclip Advantages

    (English) Pandrol VIPA SP utilises the Fastclip system which allows for efficient stressing and rail maintenance providing opportunities for savings during installation and maintenance of the tracks. Fastclip also provides opportunities for remote condition monitoring of the clips and is generally considered to be a very low maintenance system.

  • (English) The Pandrol VIPA SP system is suitable for LRT/Metro applications. It is ideally suited to construction techniques that benefit from large amounts of adjustment for example, where a bottom up construction method is used. Where top down or pre-cast solutions are envisaged the Pandrol VIPA DFC system will provide a more cost effective solution. The VIPA SP system can be installed in many different configurations and anchor arrangements, it is best to contact us for specific application requirements where we can provide the necessary guidance on which Pandrol VIPA SP application would most suit your project.

  • (English) The Pandrol VIPA SP System has been extensively used on bridges for attenuation of vibrations and for replacement of existing rail fastening systems where bridges are being refurbished. The lower baseplate in the VIPA SP system provides the opportunity to attach the system directly to the bridge superstructure or to the timber, concrete or steel bearer and provide a high level of adjustment to suit. Pandrol VIPA SP can be tuned within a wide range of stiffness from upwards of 12.5 kN/mm for Main Line category C tracks. A typical stiffness would be in the range of 20-25 kN/mm.

  • (English) Rail Structure Interaction

    (English) For dealing with the track structure interaction between the rail and the structure, low toe load and/or zero longitudinal restraint (ZLR) fastening options are available. Depending on the length and type of bridge, there may be opportunities to use ZLR fastenings throughout or through parts of the bridge and avoid the use of rail expansion joints. Where rail expansion joints are installed the ZLR fastening can be used to separate the location of the rail expansion joint and the structural expansion joint avoiding the maintenance risk of those 2 features being at the same location.

  • (English) The Pandrol VIPA SP system is suitable for Main Line (Passenger Freight) applications typically CEN CAT C according to EN 13481-5:2012. It is ideally suited to construction techniques that benefit from large amounts of adjustment for example, where a bottom up construction method is used. Where top down or pre-cast solutions are envisaged the Pandrol VIPA DFC system will provide a more cost effective solution.
