Pandrol FASTCLIP FE

The PANDROL FASTCLIP FE system is a resilient, threadless, pre-assembled rail fastening system with low installed cost.

Pandrol FASTCLIP has substantial global references and has been designed as a total system in which all components are delivered to site pre-assembled on the sleeper. Once the sleepers are laid, and the rail installed, the clip is simply pushed onto the rail by means of a simple drive action. This switch on-switch off capability leads to the opportunity for mechanising the installation and extraction processes that relate to installation and maintenance of the tracks.

  • Fastclip FE on London Underground

    Track Partnership, a collaboration between London Underground and Balfour Beatty Rail, has successfully launched the first new sleeper on London Underground in the last 30 years.

    This was a major FE installation in the UK and follows significant installations globally.     For ballasted LRT/Metro the Fastclip FE assembly is designed typically for European category B tracks which is catagorised as suitable for axle loads of up to 18 Tonnes and curves down to 80 m radius.

The unique shape of the Fastclip installed perpendicular to the rail provides the opportunity for high speed remote track inspection, and the threadless design of the fastening, minimises the requirements for maintenance.

  • The Pandrol Fastclip FE system for ballasted track on bridges can generally be considered as plain line track although for very long structures some consideration for track structure interaction may be required.

    Our conventional Fastclip assembly is designed typically for European category C main line tracks which is catagorised as suitable for axle loads of up to 26 Tonnes and curves down to 150 m radius.

    Within the context of main line tracks we have developed a range of applications to suit bespoke customer requirements and environmental parameters. For example Pandrol provides low toe load or zero toe load systems for special applications and provides for specific anti-vandal needs as well as gauge widening, gauge redeeming, dual rail/multiple rail seat requirements, special joint bar and clip coating for corrosion environments etc.

    Our heavy haul Fastclip solutions have been engineered to suit the different severities of heavy haul. Where necessary, a larger than standard clip bar diameter provides additional clamping force and longitudinal restraint to guard against high temperature variation and increased tractive and braking effort that can be associated with heavy haul.

    At the heart of the Pandrol Fastclip assembly is the rail pad that transfers the load into the sleepers and track structure. Pandrol have developed a range of rail pads from different materials to suit various environmental and operational requirements using materials from natural rubber, high density polyethylene and high performance grades of polyurethane. Our experience in all continents enables us to provide the optimum material and pad shape to suit the operating environment of a particular railway.

    Fastclip has been designed to work with low stiffness rail pads. The fatigue endurance of the clip exceeds the actual deflections of the rail under high speed rail operation.
